Festive season kicks-off with an Advertising war between the E-Commerce giants in India

As the festive season has begun and consumers have already started shopping for the most auspicious festivals of the year, E-Commerce giant like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal are leaving no stone upturned to reap out maximum benefits from this hot shopping season.

Flipkart’s  ‘ Big Billion Days’ Campaign which is a 5 day long shopping extravaganza has kicked off with a great start on Monday. Snapdeal too has loads of offers for Diwali and has dedicated the Mondays to the Electronic sales till Diwali. Amazon also has launched ‘The Great Indian Festival Sale’ which runs from 13th Oct to 17th Oct.

All of these offers are designed giving more benefits to the App users so it’s better to get their Apps installed if you are planning to buy any products during these sales. Amazon is rewarding one customer daily with 1 KG gold till their festive sale ends and the process is quite transparent, the term and conditions can be checked from their official site.

These simultaneous festive campaigns from these E-Commerce majors have also heated up the Advertising landscape and the social media. Flipkart and Snapdeal are known to take dig at each others Advertising campaigns in newspapers and also on social media especially twitter, Amazon usually stays away from such public spats though.

One thing to note here is last year around same time there were a lot of technical glitches faced during such sales but this year comparatively the scenario has been much better with no major issues reported till date which indicates the increase in maturity of the technical infrastructure.

So lets hope that the competition among these companies brings out a very positive outcome in terms of speed, service, products and most importantly costs for the consumers.

Do share your comments below if you encounter any major issues or price manipulation (For example: A 10K INR product shown with MRP 14k INR and then the offer shows 30% off taking MRP to 10k  INR again.
