Nainital: The city of LAKES

As the vacations approach we get confused about where to go. Especially if you are living in a metropolitan city and you want a little peaceful and rejuvenating time with family and friends. So buddies, here I suggest Nainital, Uttarakhand is the place. Also known as the City of Lakes it’s a perfect getaway hill station. The weather at this time of the year is rainy and people are enjoying the chill breezes with a touch of burning sun. It is the best place to spend your summer, enjoy and at the same time relax and connect with nature.

I love hill stations and I prefer Nainital of them all. For people who live in Delhi can visit the place through Volvo buses which take around 6 to 7 hours or you can opt for a train to Kathgodam from where you can rent a car to the main city, it takes about an hour to get there. Another small tip is that opt for the train. It takes only 3 to 4 hours from Delhi and is very comfortable. My personal experience of travelling in the bus to Nainital was not so good and I would definitely try to avoid it in my next visit.

Book the hotels beforehand as it is a popular hill station and you may not get rooms. Some famous hotels of Nainital are Alka Hotel, Manu Maharani and many more in that line. They provide you with the direct view of the lake. If you are short of budget and there are many cheaper hotels as well like the Hotel New Bharat and many more which are up on the zoo road. Some 1 kilometer from the mall road. Also, they have  the cab service so you don’t have to struggle with all the luggage and go up, you just need to call them and they will provide you with a cab.

A 3 to 4 day trip to Nainital is enough to discover all the places in and around it. The major highlight is the boating in the Naini Lake. The view is beautiful. You can either hire a paddle boat or the one with the boatman in it. Well, another thing you could try is the Yacht. Yes, now you can rent a Yacht from the Boat House. Pretty cool, right? After the boating, if you wish to roam around, you can explore the Tibetan market and also visit the Naini Devi temple. A lot of people face problems about where to eat. Don’t you worry? I highly recommend Sher-e-Punjab, present at almost every hill station, it has the best food at reasonable prices. Next day you can rent a car and visit all the tals like the Sapthtal, Bhimtal, and all the nine tals. Though there is not much to see in the tals but still you can give it a try if you have a good budget.

Further up, they take you on horses to the top where you can see all the points like Dorothy point, Lovers point, and much more. Pure bliss, believe me, it is very beautiful. You can also try sports like river crossing or cliff climbing. Then the last place you can explore is the zoo. Which is quite huge and you have to walk a lot to get up there, it should be optional, only if you have time, give it a visit.

So, I hope you enjoyed a small trip to Nainital. Do visit and share your opinions.
