1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan:
No list could ever be complete without mentioning the ultimate place where you would most likely have your fill of paranormal activities. It is a 17th-century fort built in the Rajasthan state of India. It was built by Man Singh I for his grandson Madho Singh I. The spooky story behind this deserted area goes back to the time when a master of dark magic fell in love with the princess. The match was, obviously, unlikely and unacceptable. Knowing this, the magician decided to caste a spell on her but the said princess got the whiff of his plans and, instead, made a plan to kill him. Before dying, though, he made sure that this place will never see the brighter side. People who have visited that place claimed that the pictures they’ve taken got blurry and, at times, shows glowing spirit orbs and the feeling of someone is watching you never quite goes away. Despite being a tourist destination, the place should be avoided at all cost during the night or before sunrise.
2. D’Souza Chawl, Mumbai:
Mumbai may have n number of chawls but this particular chawl have been scaring people for quite some time now. Apparently, the well in the chawl became the cause for the death of a woman. She fell and cried for help, dying after a lot of struggle. Now, this place is haunted with her ghost and many abnormal activities have been seen and felt in this particular area. In white saree she roams, with her bangles making noises around the infamous well. Since it is believed that these energies are strongest during night, people avoid going anywhere near this place when there is no sunlight.
3. Agrasen Ki Baowli:
Came to be known via PK, featuring Amir Khan and Anushka Sharma, this place has been known for all the wrong reasons. Now hidden among the tall buildings of Connaught Place, this place has always been popular for the paranormal aspects. This step well was originally built by the legendary king Agrasen[3] during the Mahabharat epic era. Now, however, this place can give you chills even in the broad daylight. Its black water used to attract the disheartened, discouraged and depressed people with hard to ignore force. Now that the water has dried, people claim to be followed by spirits and if they increase their pace, so will the speed of the invisible follower. It is believed that the "Baoli of the unseen", used to call for people to offer their lives and raise its water levels.
4. GP Block, Meerut:
This place, initially, did not held a lot appeal since no one ever bothered to lurk around the ruins. Things, however, got interesting when passerby noticed four men hanging around the place with booze to keep them entertained in the light of a single candle. What made it spooky was the fact that these four people doesn’t exist in real life. Along with that, onlookers have even witnessed a girl in red dress coming out of the building and then disappearing in the thin air. These, along with few more paranormal activities have made the people nearby fearful and they avoid this place as much as possible. For some people, however, it is interesting because of their love for abnormal things.
5. Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie:
Mussoorie is a perfect weekend getaway. The picturesque mountains have been admirable and well loved by many. But this same place has a hotel which is known not for it’s hospitality or infrastructure but for the paranormal activities. It even became an inspiration for Agatha Christie’s novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. It all started when the Lady Garnet Orme was found dead in the hotel under mysterious circumstances. She was believed to be poisoned and her doctor, too, faced the same, mysterious death. Now, it is believed that her ghost roams around, making noises at night, probably searching for her killer. She is described as cold and distant by those who got to encounter her. Her soft whispers have been recorded by many.
What exist and what doesn’t is an on-going debate. Life after death is a mysterious thing and so many people have n number of opinions about the same. At times, the sense of having a life beyond this life is comforting but other times, it’s spooky and highly distressing. If anyone wants to discover the alternative word, they should totally check out these places.
