Top Spiritual Leaders whom the World should follow

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin once said that "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." We, as humans, often forget the actual meaning of existence and life. So many times, our work trumps the spiritual quotient. How often do we actually try to find out what spirituality actually is? How many times have you thought about the bigger picture and not just yourself or the people you care about? At times, our human experience is simply limited to the financial, physical needs.

Thanks to the spiritual leaders, so many people actually go beyond these needs and focus on the real meaning of life. In today’s world, we have so many leaders to guide us. Below mentioned people, however, taught us the importance of humility, Diversification, Mutual Helpfulness, Strength and, above all, God.

1. Dalai Lama

“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”

Nobel Prize winner, the longest living Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso is the 14th and the present Dalai Lama. He holds the profile of a spiritual and political leader of Tibet. He was appointed at the age of two and was formally recognized when he was 15. Interestingly, it is said that there were numerous omens and spiritual signs that intercepted Lhamo as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso. His message is simple. He doesn’t want people to change their religion. After all, every religion teaches the same thing. All he wants is to weave a blanket of happiness and kindness.

2. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Writer of many inspirational things, Ravi Shankar is well recognized worldwide as a teacher and leader in humanitarian projects. His vision is a stress-free, violence-free world. Also known as Guruji, he also runs a popular, non-governmental organization, The Art of Living, which is involved in humanitarian projects with a special focus on stress elimination. He has been bestowed with many awards including the highest civilian awards of Colombia, Mongolia and Paraguay.

3. Pope Francis

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church in March 2013, becoming Pope Francis. He is the first pope from the Americas. He has earned a respectable position in hearts of people by presenting his unfiltered views on various topics. Who am I to judge?” was his reply to the topic of homosexuality. His views on environment, too, are worth mentioning. He said, “If present trends continue, this century may well witness extraordinary climate change and an unprecedented destruction of ecosystems, with serious consequences for all of us."

4. Paulo Coelho

“In the absence of talk we can understand what lies beyond.” His books are absorbing and hard to put down but this is not the only recognition he has gained. Over the years, Paulo Coelho has emerged as a spiritual leader for many. His books come with a message which is closely associated with spirituality. His ideas and opinions revolve around creation, the self, dreams, love and purpose, giving his work a pop philosophical slant. His blogs, videos, and social networking accounts work with the same perspective. “People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily”

5. Rhonda Byrne

“...Can something so simple turn your life around?  Yes, it can. Decide right now that you're going to feel good.  Intend that you're going to feel good today and tomorrow.  Visualize yourself feeling good.  And whenever you think of it, remind yourself to feel good now.  That's it - life turned around!” Her books claim that you can gain anything you want in life —wealth, health, the perfect mate, business success, respect from others —literally anything. Her documentary film took the audience by surprise. It not only changed a lot of lives for good but also, the world witnessed a global movement. Her mission is to bring joy to billions.
