3 best moments of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive '16

The social media feed was filled with the latest updates of one of the most happening fashion week and that is the Lakmé Fashion Week’16. The theme of the Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) of 2016 was all about the winter/festive collection where designers from all over showcased their stunning designs on the ramp. The fashion week had begun from 24th of August and the grand event ended on 28th of August.

A platform where all the shimmer and prints were showcased by designers like Kunal Rawat, Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Santosh Parekh, Monica Shah and Karishma, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Ritu Kumar, Quirk box, and many others. They made their presence felt with their exclusive collection. Every year there are different moments and ideas which become the highlight of the fashion week and are cherished. And this year too, there are moments and ideas which are worth remembering for.

1.

Indian Textile-  After the amazing opening of the LFW, the second day was dedicated to the sustainable fashion and to the Indian textiles and handloom. Various designs from the handloom industry stole the spotlight of the day. A unique exploration of handloom from various parts of the country brought together under one roof. This idea has helped to preserve the Indian attire and has encouraged people to wear the clothes from India rather than just a normal kurta of not an Indian cloth. This platform allowed common people like tribal women from Assam to showcase their talent with the help of NGO’s being a part of the fashion week.

2.

Little Shilpa (All plus size)- With all the body shaming lately and where the notion that the female models should have a zero figure and the male models should have the physique, the show by Shilpa has ended the belief about the models’ physical requirement and types of clothes  to be showcased at the ramp. This show lifted by Shilpa was about the clothes worn by healthy people.  And thus the models too were of the same body type. But the energetic show by all the models nailed the ramp and also broke the taboo that fashion shows are only for the fit models.

3.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s walk for Sabyasachi- The glorious fashion week's absolute grand finale was special when Kareena Kapoor walked for Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s radiant olive green lehenga. And this is not the highlight, but walking gracefully with the baby bump was like a fairytale. The glow on her face was special. And to witness Kareena’s ramp walk flaunting the bump, Deepika Padukone, and Karishma Kapoor were allotted on the front rows.  Kareena proved that nothing can stop her from doing something she loves. And looking like a princess in the olive green lehenga, she ruled the ramp and this shall be cherished forever.
