In today's era, development seems to be the first and foremost priority for the people, especially the younger generations. We often hear of projects like smart cities, bullet trains and the rising spending capacity of the Metropolitan population. But, this section of society cannot represent the entire population of 1.25 billion Indians. There are still a lot of people who strive hard just to meet their basic needs. No country or state can flourish completely if there is not an inclusive growth and all the strata of people prosper together in the same direction. Samajwadi Party, under the able leadership of Hon. Chief Minister Shri Akhilesh Yadav, has launched one of the most ambitious and effective projects, Samajwadi Pension Yojna.
Here, Vidya emphasizes the fact that although some people would argue that it might not be a huge amount but we need to ask this to people who do not even have that amount. We need to acknowledge and appreciate the fact that some government has finally taken up this initiative to help the underprivileged people in such a regular way. Also, another point of consideration is that the number of people who fall under this category sums up to a huge figure in the most populous state of India, Uttar Pradesh.
Under this scheme, Rs.500 would be credited directly into the bank accounts of poor women every month. It is going to benefit around beneficiary 55,00,000 families and it also includes various other social initiatives like compulsory school enrollment of children and free medical facilities. Around 3.6 crore bank accounts were opened with respect to this welfare scheme and it is the largest number of bank accounts in any state of India. This is for the first time that an initiative of this magnitude has been launched in India covering the maximum number of people. The eligibility criteria and the steps to enroll for the Samajwadi Pension Yojna can be found here. Apart from this pension scheme, a host of other welfare schemes can be checked out at http://sspy-up.gov.in/
Expressing her happiness over the association with Samajwadi Pension Yojna, Vidya Balan told “I am very happy as the money meant to be given in this scheme will go directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries and money is power. About 50 per cent population comprise of women who have been left far behind and are now taking small steps forward”.
UP CM Akhilesh Yadav too congratulated Vidya Balan saying “We are grateful of Vidya Balan for getting associated with the biggest scheme of UP, the Samajwadi Pension Scheme.”
