11 Lessons from Blogging

#1

We are all human beings. We all crave to be noticed and appreciated. Hence, if something catches your eye and if you appreciate it, do not hesitate to leave a comment and express your views. Every voice counts. Every compliment matters to the person receiving it. Therefore, be generous; do not be stingy with compliments.

#2

The ability to articulate well makes a difference and it is through practice that you will learn how to be an effective communicator. Hence, keep writing, keep blogging, and keep sharing.

#3

While interacting with other bloggers, be firm yet flexible. Be polite. Choose your words carefully and do not be aggressive. Again, everyone with whom you are interacting is a human being. Treat others with kindness, even if they are strangers who are living miles away.

#4

Every blog and comment of yours will leave a digital footprint. Your digital footprint plays a role in shaping your online reputation. Thus, be mindful and be wise. You never know how your words might be perceived by the reader. "Precaution is better than cure" for a reason.

#5

Having said that, it is ok to make mistakes. Just make sure you clarify yourself, apologize if need be, and be cautious in the future. Learn to look at things from others' point of view and acknowledge that everyone can have a different way of seeing things.

#6

The world of blogging is vast. You will come across innumerable people who will contribute to your virtual space. Be welcoming and appreciative of their opinions. By broadening your perspective, you will be able to grasp the best from people coming from various age groups and walks of life, people with whom you may not have the opportunity to interact with in the real world.

#7

Blogging is an experiment. There are no fixed rules. You may start off with no purpose, but gradually, it will help to determine whether you are blogging for pleasure or for profession and then, to curate your blog accordingly.

#8

However, when you write from your heart, it shows. Do not write just for the sake of writing and do not blog just for the sake of blogging. Share what matters to you and by doing so, you will be contributing something that no else can, merely because what you are writing comes from the heart.

#9

Do not be afraid to share. Share your blog posts with like-minded people. Share them with professionals. Share them with friends. Share them with those whom you know will completely disagree with you. After all, it is when you share your views with a diverse mix of people that you will continue to receive new feedback and occasions to improve.

#10

While you might be writing and blogging away, do also take the time to read other blogs. Reading and reflecting on others' blogs will once again broaden your perspective and allow you to reap more benefits from the world of blogging.

#11

Ultimately, blogging is a great way to build your online presence. It is also a great way to connect with others, learn from them, and capitalize on new opportunities. Make the best of your journey!
