8 Most Amazing Rocks Across The World

Nature is great and humans enjoy natural resources in different forms. It may be mighty mountains, roaring waterfalls, thick forests, changes in weather or beautiful beaches, we all yearn to spend some time with nature. The uniqueness of rocks may lie in their shapes, components, locations and beautiful landscapes they represent.

1. Aphrodite Rocks, Cyprus



Aphrodite's Rock is a sea stack in Pafos, Cyprus also known as Petra tou Romiou (Rock of Greek).

The beauty of nature and mythological connection attracts more tourists.

It is not permitted to climb the rock.

According to one legend, this rock is the site of the birth of the goddess Aphrodite, perhaps owing to the foaming waters around the rock fragments.



2. Old Harry Rocks, England



Old Harry Rocks are three chalk formations, including a stack and a stump, located at Handfast Point,England.

It is marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One legend says that the Devil had a sleep on the rocks.

Another local legend says that the rocks were named after Harry Paye, the infamous Poole pirate, whose ship hid behind the rocks awaiting passing merchantmen.



3. Ayers Rocks (Uluru), Australia



Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation.

The area around the formation is home to an abundance of springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings.

Uluru is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.






4. Balancing Rock, Canada


A balancing rock, also called balanced rock or precarious boulder, is a naturally occurring geological formation featuring a large rock, sometimes of substantial size, resting on other rocks.

India also has two balancing rocks.
Krishna’s butterball is a famous balancing rock located in Mahabalipuram, India.

A balancing rock is also located near Madan Mahal fort in Jabalpur city of Madhya Pradesh.



5. Horseshoe Bend, Arizona, USA




It is horseshoe shaped rock.The rock walls of Horseshoe Bend contain a variety of minerals, among which are hematite, platinum and garnet.

The overlook is 1,300m level, and the Colorado River is at 980 m above sea level.






6. Nanya Rock Formations, Taiwan




Nanya is noted for its fantastic rock formations and sea-eroded coral shore.

The patterned stone topography of Nanya, unique in Taiwan, was formed through the weathering of the sandstone that lines the shore. 







7. The Arbol de Piedra, Bolivia





The Arbol de Piedra, Bolivia stone tree, is an isolated rock formation.Its shape, particularly the thin stem, are due to strong winds carrying sand and eroding the soft sandstone carrying.







8. Wulingyuan, Hunan, China

A World Heritage Site is a landmark which has been officially recognized by the United Nations, specifically by UNESCO.

Sites are selected on the basis of having cultural, historical, scientific or some other form of significance, and they are legally protected by international treaties.

It features 40 caves, many with large calcite deposits, and two natural bridges.

The scenic area consists of four national parks.
