STOP these thought processes that are making you SAD

A wise person once said to me ‘You need to stop looking for reasons to be sad’. At first, I was offended and was completely against the insinuation that I was looking for reasons to be sad. But then when I thought about it a little more, I realized that the person was right. There were many scenarios I had built up in my head that were bringing me down every single day. I have finally learnt to stop letting these though processes control me and I hope that you can do the same as well.

That you have to be in a relationship

This is the number one thing that everyone in our generation needs to stop thinking. For some reason, we think that if we are not in a relationship it is a really bad thing and that there is something wrong with us. That is something that we have been conditioned to think and is a scenario that has been completely built up within our own heads. Enjoy the time that you are single, it isn’t any less fun.

That change is bad

We desperately cling onto whatever is familiar and whatever has become routine to us, without ever thinking that maybe change is not all that bad after all. After all, when you think about your life two years from now, would you want everything to be exactly the same as it is? I’m sure that you would want a few things to be different and that is why you should never run away from change.

That you need to be told everything first

Many of us feel very bad when our friends do not tell us something first and we are the last one to know. But as long as our friends are actually telling us the news and are not hiding something from us, does it really matter if we are the first ones or the last ones to know. The feeling that we should be the most important is everyone’s life is a bit illogical, if you come to think of it.

That you need to look like certain supermodels

This is so true for everyone that is growing up and from every gender as well. We do not need to spend our entire lives trying to look like someone else. All those diets and exercise regimens that we embark on need to be carried out if we aren’t fit enough and want to improve our lifestyle. Not because we want to wear the same dress size that Gigi Hadid is wearing.

That you need to be always surrounded by people

There is this one myth that very often leads to the destruction of our happiness that we always need to be surrounded by people in order to be truly happy. If our friends aren’t free to hang out with, we refrain from doing things on our own because we do not want to be judged for being alone. We very often confuse being alone with the feeling of loneliness. Spend time with yourself, without anyone else around and you can still have the time of your life.
