Exciting Monsoon Destinations In India

Nothing would ever match up to the monsoon season which brings in joy, happiness and, mainly, relief from the scorching hot weather. People welcome it with open arms. In India, this season is definitely everyone’s favourite. So many movies have celebrated this season with all-time favourite songs, mostly romantic. So, what could be a better time to have a getaway and enjoy this relaxing time of the year?

India is a country which provides n number of destinations. Be it beaches or hilly, snowy mountains, it has everything one could ever desire for. Hence, here’s a list of the top five monsoon destinations which you should totally consider if you’re planning a vacation with your family or friends.

1. Darjeeling, West Bengal

By the looks of it, this is becoming everyone’s favourite destination. With beautiful, jaw-dropping mountains and tourist destination, it is not surprising that people are considering it. Along with the attractions like Toy Train, Tiger Hill, Cable car and Batasia Loop (War Memorial), it also has a beautiful zoo with animals like red panda, clouded leopard, etc. Along with that, the weather is very blissful! Because of its close proximity to Kalimpong and Gangtok, you can also have your fill of these beautiful places as well. 


2. Bikaner, Rajasthan

The mere thought of travelling to Rajasthan during summer time is unbearable. But, with the arrival of monsoon, it becomes accommodating and worth visiting. Famous for its royal buildings and picturesque Jain Temple and Shri Laxminath Temple, it also has magnificent forts and Cenotaphs. Various museums showcase the heritage of India, various swords and other weapons. Since Rajasthan is famous for its embroidery work, the markets are flooded with things you would want to bring back with you. Shopping will definitely be on your mind if you’ll visit this beautiful city. 


3. Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand

Famous for its national park, Jim Corbett will become your favourite if you love rafting. Since monsoon is the only time Kosi River is full of water, you can enjoy this sport and have your fill of adventures. Along with that, this season is very much favourable for Safari rides. Animals can be spotted more frequently since they’re not hiding from the glaring sun. Boars, antelopes and various other animals are easy to spot, you can also indulge in Elephant Safaris. With temples, waterfalls and museums to keep you occupied and interested, this place definitely demands your attention and time. 


4. Coorg, Karnataka

Also known as Scotland of India, this hill station consists of Namdroling Monastery, Omkareshwara Temple and Golden Temple. It consists of scenic waterfalls, a major tourist attraction. Places like Raja's Seat and Talakaveri are admirable and gives a nice view of the green and absolutely beautiful place. For all those who love to see and admire vintage cars, this place provides you with a chance to get a closer look of more than 100 vintage vehicles in the museum. Visiting this place during monsoon season only adds to the beauty of the place and provides visitors with a chance for river rafting and other adventurous sports


5. Lonavala, Maharashtra

Since monsoon makes everything more lush and beautiful, this hill station, nearby Pune and Mumbai, is not an exception to the rule. It serves as a perfect weekend getaway and one can’t help but admire the beautiful hills and many tourist destinations it consists of. From various adventurous activities to visiting historical places, it covers all. With Pavana Lake, Lion Point, Celebrity Wax Museum and Bhushi Dam, it has created a special place in the list of must visit tourist destinations. Balloon rides are simply cherry to the top.
