Top 8 Street Shopping Destinations in India You Must Visit

My recent visit to Delhi, specifically Connaught Place got me thinking about the various shopping destinations one might be honoured to visit in India. It is every fashionista’s waking dream-  to find recent trends at dirt prices. The vibrancy, the sensory pleasure, the buzzing energy of a crowded flea market cannot be compared to the cold, muted silence of a High fashion store. (No offence to Zara)

Here is list of places to visit and bargain at, if you ever embark on a fashion pilgrimage in India:

1. Colaba Causeway, Mumbai

This place is one of the most crowded places in the entirety of Mumbai. Books, clothes, shoes, interiors, jewellery, everything consolidated at one place. It is a unique mix of modern and traditional.

2. Laad Bazaar, Hyderabad

Located near Charminar, this place hosts the biggest jewellery market in India, from pearls to semi-precious stones, this place has it all.

3. Sarojini  Nagar, New Delhi

One of the most visited and sought after markets in India, this place has become an anthem for every college student. This place hosts a plethora of latest trends and the bargaining never ends. Having recently visited it, I can’t complain, it is really the Mecca for young girls.

4. Anjuna flea market, Goa

The flea market at the sea shore is a cultural experience for both locals and tourists. Here, you’ll find funky jewellery, bohemian clothes and fabulous handicrafts.

5. Johari Bazaar, Jaipur

Well known for its costume jewellery along with gold and silver jewellery, you will also find Jaipuri  sarees  and suits.

6. Gariahat market, Kolkata

It hosts eclectic finds of sarees and suits along with jewellery and electronics and much more.

7. Kitsch Mandi, Bangalore

Kitsch Mandi is an art and design bazaar promoting new and upcoming designers in all creative fields. It is Bangalore's most vibrant flea market.

8. Janpath, New Delhi

Janpath is a tourist attraction centre in the middle of the commercial Connaught place. Foreigners from all around the world visit this market for its ethnic clothing and handicrafts. Jewellery and Khadi are also a selling point. Not to forget the thrifted clothing and footwear, this place is unique with a twist of urban.

When in the dearth of the lush green notes, do consider marooning these style hotspots. They will give an opportunity to experience the deep culture of modern and traditional India in a way that you’ve never imagined.

Do send in your experiences of places you have personally visited for shopping!

Until the next post, happy styling!
