Music and the Brain

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

-Victor Hugo

To start with, I’d like to say that life without music would be absolutely boring. It would be shallow, inexpressive, emotionless and void of connectivity. As it is commonly said, ‘Books are one’s best friends,’ I would say that ‘Music is the only best friend.’ Music is for the heart by the heart.

Music comes for all.

There are so many types of music out there today. Rap, Pop, EDM, Hip-Hop, Country, Indie, Alternative, to name a few. It is the one thing that keeps the most of us going. You can connect with music at any state of emotion. You can usually tell how someone’s feeling by the type of music he or she is listening to. Songs paint a picture. Every musical composition tells a story. The synthesis of a work reflects the human condition and provides listeners with a window through which one can view its composer.

Music, it builds a connection with the writer, makes us feel for them and gives us a sense of belonging that we are not outcasts. We have some deep connection with music because it is hardwired into our brains and bodies.

One of the many power of music is that it brings out memories. It also creates magic, the one felt from deep within and hence giving us our favorite song. Music makes us dive into the soul. It helps evoke feeling because it allows the listener to suspend reality and become absorbed in its plot. It helps us disconnect from the world, from all our responsibilities, stress, and takes us to a whole new dimension, each with different patterns, a euphoric teleportation.

Music gives you a sense of calmness, frees your mind, diverts you from the world outside, creates a sense of liking, a spark, and also motivates you to do something. Also, music is scientifically good for the health. It helps relieve stress, stabilizing the heart rate and blood pressure, improves and retrieve the memory, reducing backache, boosts workout, reduces pain and anxiety. It is like a balm, taking away your pain and making you feel relaxed.

Music is that piece which goes into your ears and straight into your heart.

Music is the creation of culture, emotions, feelings and surroundings that reflect the human condition as well as that of its creator. Music washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life and inspires one to live a lofty life. There is absolute tranquility and harmony when the sound of music enters into one’s heart. Such experiences cannot be comprehended and can only be experienced by one. Only music takes us to the land of the unknown where there is a free mind with no barrier and is a land of simple, plain emotional ecstasy with soulful and pleasing melodies and symphonies.

To conclude, Play the moments, pause the memories, stop the pain and rewind the happiness.

Music - my umbrella of soulful, clueless ideologies!
