Lately, the content of the films is experimental. And Gauri Shinde's film Dear Zindagi is one of it. With the story of a working girl figuring out her life, Dear Zindagi is not a typical Bollywood film. Gauri Shinde creates magic when it comes to building character and leading them into a relatable story. And the same magic was felt with Kaira’s character to which any woman in her 20s and 30s will relate to.
Unveiling the beauty of Goa and Mumbai, the DOP did his best job by showcasing small details and captured everything beautifully. With the first ever cast pair of Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan but not as a romantic lead, this film is more than romance. Alia stole the show by giving her effortless acting as Kaira. Shah Rukh Khan, who is seen playing altogether a different role than the ones he is known for has given his best acting and made his presence felt.
The effortless chemistry of Kaira and Jug will leave you in awe. The most impactful part of the film is the dialogues which will stay in your find even after you watch the film. It is impressing to see how characters and situations are built with the effective dialogues.
The character of Kaira, who juggles in life and is seeking for answers stands out as the most relatable character. The film showcases how it is okay to go to a therapist to seek help and how it is okay to be confused in life. The first half with the scenes and conversations in it is light for the audience and the second half is heavy in term of understanding between the dialogues. What is missing in the film is the background of the therapist Jug. If we could see more of Shah Rukh Khan playing the unique role, it would be the cherry on the cake.
