3 Things You Must Pack in Your Hand Luggage

Traveling is a delight for some while a nuisance for others. Regardless of how we perceive traveling as a whole, the trouble of commuting to and fro a place, by air, often proves to be a hassle. Innumerable tourists and travelers have experienced instances where their flights get delayed, their luggage fails to reach their destination in time, or where they are made to stay the night at the airport due to certain circumstances. If you are traveling for business or on a family vacation, this may be quite inconvenient and burdensome.

However, there is one way through which you can ensure that you face the least troubles while your flight is rescheduled or till your checked-in bags are delivered. The secret is to plan well what goes in your hand luggage. And if you are one of the few persons who prefers to travel with hand luggage as minimal as a mere handbag or laptop bag, you might want to give it a second thought.

Here are a few important things you should always remember to pack in your carry-on:

1. An Extra Pair of Clothes

Many a time, you may have flawlessly planned your family trip from beginning to end only to realize that the airline mistakenly sent your checked-in bags to another destination and will not deliver them for at least two days. What do you do?! Simple. If you have remembered to pack at least one pair of clothes for each family member in your hand baggage, you will be able to make do for a day or two before the rest of your luggage and clothes arrive. No one wants to roam around in the same clothes that they have worn during the flight. It just kills the mood of the trip. Hence, packing an extra outfit, including clean socks and underwear, in your carry-on bag is a must.

2. Important Documents

Whether you a tourist, business traveler or a student studying abroad, keeping important documents with you at all times is a must. Be it printed copies of your passport and visa, printed copies of your online tickets, your travel itinerary, contact details of friends and family members in both destinations in case of emergencies, residence permit or accommodation confirmation, university identification card, driver's license or any other means of identification, insurance documents, other required travel documents for proof, etc., it is recommended that you keep them all safe on hand. Further, certain countries also make it mandatory for you to furnish proof of vaccination, special permits, etc. Make sure you have all the required papers with you in your hand baggage to avoid last minute hassles.

3. Phone Charger

You never know when your phone's battery may die and when you may be in dire need of a map, compass, making a call, and whatnot! Again, if your checked-in baggage fails to arrive at the designated time, then having your phone charger with you comes in handy to make sure you can continue to communicate for various reasons. Carrying along a phone charger with you in your hand luggage won't take up much space and can hence, prove to be a lifesaver. If you are traveling to a place where they use a different electrical plug and socket type as opposed to
your home country, it is also advisable that you carry an appropriate adapter of a suitable voltage with you. If you are traveling to multiple countries, you may want to invest in a world adapter. For more information on the electrical plug/outlet and voltage information for each country, you may visit this site (http://www.adaptelec.com/info-by-country-c-15.html).

It is through negative experiences that fellow travelers have learned to carry the above three things with them in their hand luggage whenever they travel. Tragedy strikes when you least expect it to. Hence, it is better to remain prepared than to face the consequences unarmed. After all, they do say that, "precaution is better than cure!"
