5 reasons why Amitabh Bachchan’s letter is for every daughter

Recently, the legendary artist Amitabh Bachchan penned down a heartwarming letter for his granddaughters- Aaradhya Bachchan and Navya Nanda. He poured his emotions and advice for his princess' in it. And the words in the letter are something which is relevant for not only the celebrities’ daughters but for every daughter in this world, irrespective of the privilege you owe, or the class you belong to. Here are the reasons why;

1. Control over behavior

Every woman somewhere or the other must have experienced about how people around decide whom you should talk to, how you should behave, what you should think about certain matters, which places you can go and so on.

And to face this, Mr. Bachchan says that, "don’t allow the people to decide your boundaries and thinking, rather make your own choices."

2. How to dress

‘Don’t buy that dress, it is too short’ heard that often? There are times when our people restrict women for wearing what they wish for, not because they don’t like it, but because of the stare you witness while passing the street. People on the street judge you by a characterless woman or even worse when they just glance for a second in your favourite short dress.

But does ‘the length of your skirt measure your character?’ Well, this is what the letter indicates that don’t let the people decide your character by what you are wearing.

3. Marriage

People in our society have the tendency to know everything about everyone and marriage is one of it. If you are  a 27-year-old woman, you will often be asked about why aren’t you married yet, when will you marry.  Often women marry because of factors like the pressure of family.

But, Amitabh Bachchan makes it clear that ‘don’t get married for any other reason other than you want to get married.

4. Log kya kahenge

Every now and then we encounter our names in the terrible conversations of the people. And this is mainly experienced by the women when they do not obey to the so-called norms set by the people.

To this, the actor said that ‘People will talk. They shall say some terrible things. But that doesn’t mean you have to listen to everyone. Never ever worry about - log kya kahenge. At the end of the day, you are the only one who will face the consequences of your actions, so don’t let other people make your decisions for you.

5. Be the change

Every woman today is ambitious and refuses to bow to the society’s restrictions. We all want to set our boundaries, make our choices relevant of from where we belong to.

And the words in the letter state that, ‘this may be a difficult, difficult world to be a woman. But I believe that it is women like you that will change that. It may not be easy, setting your own boundaries, making your own choices, rising above people’s judgment. But YOU, you can set an example for women everywhere.
