A Letter to The Generation Who Does Things to Please Others...

Welcome one and welcome all to the generation that feels the need to always be doing something. That’s not all, they also always feel the need to show others that they are busy doing something. Thanks to the world of technology that they are living in, it is very easy for them to do so. Snapchat being the number one driving force in letting the world know what you are doing. I, too, belong to this generation and honestly, it has begun to get on my nerves recently.

The number one fallacy in this game of always doing something is very important. Saturday night that must absolutely be spent clubbing or with friends. If someone on the coming Monday asks you what you did over the weekend and your answer is nothing, you are going to be at the receiving end of a few judgemental looks for sure. They make you question if you are a loner who has no social life and no friends to spend ‘exciting Saturday nights’ with.

This is the primary reason that we are always, every single minute, trying to do something with our lives that we want others to think will be cool. There is nothing wrong at all with wanting to enjoy life and do things that we want for us.

The minute we stop doing things for ourselves and start doing it for the sake of someone else is when it becomes a problem.

Another thing is that we are expected to do things that are considered to be cool. So going on a drive with friends, going out clubbing, grabbing a Starbucks, are all considered to be things that we should do to spend our time. While on the other hand if we read a book, go for a drive by ourselves or watch TV alone at home on a Saturday night, we are considered to be not that cool.

We need to start resting and spending our time how we want to, without feeling the need to let the rest of the world know what we are doing. Without feeling this constant need to fit in and be envied by others. So start becoming happy and content spending your time the way you want to.

If you want to spend your weekends watching TV, do just that. If you enjoy the most while clubbing, go ahead and hit the clubs. The only mistake our generation needs to stay away from is filling in every minute of our time because we care about what others think of us.

The time is yours, so spend it as you see fit!
