Why Is it Important To Have Emotions?

“I would rather drown in emotions than be numb.”
-Anonymous

Emotions are an imperative part of a human’s life. They are feelings that we feel in our bodies. The tingles and sensations that our body experience. Love, anger, happiness, fear, greed, lust, envy, shame and pride among many others are all emotions. They do differ on the basis of being positive or negative but are all part of a big circle of emotions only.

Emotions are the epitome of our very own existence and individuality, which makes us human. They are the mental state, which is also a process that defines us, our actions. Emotions are the resultant and reflective feelings that are physical as well as psychological. They are an individual’s reaction on how they perceive the stimulus, which is the driving factor.

People show how they feel and what they feel through their emotions only. It is an integral part of our lives and the very essence of our being. Emotions comprise the vast elements as well as little bits from venting ferocious anger to a tiny smile. It takes place, in interaction with other people or even to your individual (inner) self.

We are the part of a contemporary world, which is a gamut of complexities, presumptions, and unrealness with a whole new world of virtual existence. People are losing their tolerance levels, caring and comforting nature with a sadistic and cynical twist to their emotional communication.

Don’t be harsh and loud in expressing your emotions but don’t hide them either. Let them burst and shine out of you.

Today, it’s not just your intelligence, education, physical, social or mental state that is prevailing the success and relationships. It has further extended to our emotions which is Emotional Intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is basically the measure of an individual’s ability to identify, understand and manage their own as well as other people’s emotions. The higher EI you have, the more chances you have of forming and maintaining interpersonal relationships, managing the stress levels and less likely to suffer from depression themselves.

The various factors involved in EI are self-awareness, regulation, and motivation. It also makes use of social skills such as communication, management, influence, bonds, leadership among other along with empathy to best achieve this Emotional Intelligence.

People usually put up defences to confront the emotions in the direct way which are to Ignore, Generalize by making use of some abstract emotions, Disguise which could refer to an awkward moment and Confuse which are more often than not misleading.

Emotions are meant to be shown, to feel not just yours but others too. Don’t curb them but rather channelize them in the most effective way possible.

Manage yours as well as others emotions as the emotional control is the key to personal development through a better you, better decisions hence better results.
