Why You Should Move To A New Place?

I know, I know, I know. I know exactly what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, here I am, I have a roof over my head, a steady career or education, a group of acquaintances and a couple of friends I can lean on. Why the hell is this article telling me to uproot my whole life and search for a place and set down my roots there? Why should I leave my comfort zone and leave for an unknown fate in an unknown land.

Believe me, even I had the same thoughts when my dad suddenly decided that we’re moving out of our hometown. And trust me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, if it weren’t for the numerous times I’ve changed homes, schools, cities and states. Don’t believe me? Well then, read on and find out for yourself why changing cities is so awesome (and addictive).

New Place

Well, this one is pretty obvious. If you move to a new city, you do miss those days when you knew your city like the back of your hand, and I’m not going to lie about that. But, if you look at the brighter side, there’s no chance like this to explore. You will be able to visit new places and gain novel experiences. You will be able to experience the adrenaline rush that one get when you take on the risks and explore a completely unknown place. And if you consider practically, you will know that there are many subtle differences between cities and you’ll learn to appreciate the disadvantages and advantages of your former city all over again. So, board that bus without seeing the destination, spend a day in a completely novel place and I bet you’ll be richer by an experience.

New People

In today’s world, networking has become a kind of magic formula for success. The more people you have connections with, the more are your chances at succeeding at your job. After all, the corporate world (and the world at large) is largely about what you can get people to do for you. In this case, it is always good to make as many acquaintances and friends that you can and going to a new city means that you get to interact with many more people than you previously did. This is especially important in the case of introverts, because situations like these lend them important insights into conversing with people.

Adaptability

As George Bernard Shaw says, “Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything”, the ability to adapt to changes is a very important and at the same time, a very necessary one. Moving from one city to another would mean a lot of changes. For example, you might not be able to put your bed just by your window, no matter how much you feel you wouldn’t be able to live without it. And what’s more, in some time, you’ll get used to the things you thought you would never get used to. This ability will help you deal with any future changes in your life with great confidence and faith in destiny.

Tolerance

As the saying goes, “The heart of wisdom is tolerance”, tolerance is an essential virtue. It begins with everyday things and decisions, as simple as, you like strawberry and I like chocolate. Due to the inability to tolerate, we often get into a lot of arguments, leading to verbal and physical fights just because we cannot tolerate opinions conflicting ours. If you move from one city to another, you will get to experience a new language (if the language spoken in your new city is the same as the one spoken in your former city, there will atleast be subtle differences in your dialects) and a new culture. This will make you realize that there are different lifestyles of living and each one of them is right in its own place.

As Meister Eckhart says, And suddenly you know; it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings.

So, pack your bags, move to a new city and experience the magic of novelty.
