Music is Omnipresent!
Life is dull without music. Human beings are lifeless without music. Music is everywhere. It is not confined to CDs and cassettes; one may find it in the ringing of a metal bell, while beating a nail, while tapping on a hard surface with a shoe sole. Perhaps this is the reason for the evolution of various unique and beautiful genres today. We have seen a transition from traditional classical music to today’s improvised, new genres and new music is still evolving. It is really a wonderful fact how new music is composed (many a time without having a resemblance to earlier composed music or songs) every day.
Many people have some misconceptions regarding music. Today many think and conceptualise modern music as a more embracing, while many tend to adhere strictly to the classical music, and many dislike other types and sometimes, even underestimate. However, this is not seen everywhere, but very frequently such things are noticed. Arguments and differentiations are seen among different sections and schools of music practitioners. But, in spite of these differentiations of viewpoints, it is a fact that “music is music only.” It is the most beautiful way of expressing and conveying our thoughts. Another conflict is seen between western and eastern (primarily, Indian) music practitioners. But, it should be kept in mind that such conflicts are seen mostly among the learners.
Many learners have the tendency to go by the notions of other people. Hence, they simply tend to stick to the genre which is in vogue in their surroundings. But, music is all about creativity. Whatever the genre is, it serves the purpose of expressing our thoughts to other people in a euphoric way. So, this differentiation and conflict between music practitioners’ notions should be erased in order to get and keep the essence of the music intact. The Sanskrit equivalent term for music is sangeet, which means the unity and amalgamation of song, dance, and instruments (musical). So playing musical instruments is a very inevitable means of expressing our emotions. But, as mentioned above, differentiations and misleading conceptions are found in playing instruments too like in the case of singing. But, these variations rather than differentiation, serve a very good purpose in polishing one’s musical talents. It will be more effective if one could relate these variations.
Here I am going to put some simple yet significant way to relate different musical senses which would surely help in nurturing and polishing raw musical talents.
Music is all about listening. It is a fact that a good music composer must have the ability to listen to a variety of music. Confining to certain conventions and rules may lead to limitation of one’s musical sense. So, let’s broaden our musical sense and add new cross-cultural euphoric flavours to make ourselves more worthy of appreciation.

Observation
Proper observations can lead to mastery. So one should try to observe the similarities among different instruments. For example, non-percussion instruments have very much similarities as there are twelve notes (whether, in the Indian or in the Western music), and one can attain the mastery if he/she succeeds in observing the similarities among them. A very simple example is the similarities between harmonium and guitar. This example is an ideal one because a guitar is western whereas a harmonium is primarily eastern (though a piano is very much alike).Effort to Relate
It is pretty interesting and worthy to relate different instruments. Any non-percussion instruments have twelve notes and it is universal irrespective of geographical area. So, one will be in benefit if he/she try to relate both guitar, harmonium, flute, benjo, piano, harmonica and any other non-percussion folk instruments.Application of knowledge of one instrument on another

Music is culture and culture is not stable without music. One should try to gather as much knowledge about different cultures and their musical instruments.
