Over the last few years, shouts of women empowerment, feminism, and gender equality have taken a steep rise owing to the increase in tragic incidents involving females. As we all know that cinema is the so-called mirror of the society; whatever takes place in the society or whatever is happening in the society is sure to be made a film on. A couple of weeks back, a certain Bollywood film named "Naam Shabana" got released on the same lines. The only difference being the fact that it was made with an intention of bringing about a necessary change in the society.

Why Are Good Films Not Appreciated in India?
Films are something truly dynamical. They often change your perspective towards life and certain events happening around you. They do transform you sometimes and that can be both in the positive and the negative aspects. Our beloved country is highly influenced by the films and cinema we watch. We see any film and we gradually tend to do what the lead in the film does and mutually share his ideology in the real life.

Changing Trends in Indian Cinema from 1950s To 2017
Bollywood is known to make a variety of films ranging from commercial masala flicks to the realistic cinema, from sci-fi superhero films to message-oriented films. A common pattern that one can observe in the films that release every year is the set formula on which most of the films are based. Filmmakers, here, try to follow a set formula in their films and don’t wish to experiment with new story and screenplay.

Johnny Walker: The Drunkard who was a Teetotaller
The year 1950, Guru Dutt was planning his directorial debut in Navketan studio with his beloved friends Dev Anand, Chetan Anand and his script writer Balraj Sahni. The discussion was about ‘Baazi’. A drunkard entered the studio and started uttering nonsensical things as he was not in his senses. They started enjoying at first but after half an hour the guy was ordered to be thrown out. That very moment Balraj Sahni ordered ‘cut’ to the drunkard, “Badru Miyaan come back to your original identity.” Everyone was astonished to see a drunk guy turning sober in seconds! Guru Dutt instantly casted him in ‘Baazi’ and gave him a character of drunkard which was already written by Sahni. And Hindi cinema found a brilliant actor and the best comedian.

Cast: Alia Bhatt (Kaira), Shah Rukh Khan (Jug), Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi, Ali Zafar.
Director and Story: Gauri Shinde
Producer: Karan Johar, Gauri Khan and Gauri Shinde.
Lately, the content of the films is experimental. And Gauri Shinde's film Dear Zindagi is one of it. With the story of a working girl figuring out her life, Dear Zindagi is not a typical Bollywood film. Gauri Shinde creates magic when it comes to building character and leading them into a relatable story. And the same magic was felt with Kaira’s character to which any woman in her 20s and 30s will relate to.

And while it's a perfectly fine film- checks the boxes- a decent plot, good acting, it is, at best, mediocre in terms of everything else.

Bollywood: The 100 crore Fallacy
Bollywood is one of the largest producers of movies all over the world. With around three to four movies releasing at the box office, every Friday, the competition is fierce. A good way, as many of us believe it to measure the worth of a movie by its commercial success. However, what is altogether very surprising is that a lot of the Indian movies today are making it to the famous 100-crore club, despite lacking a story line, let alone a good one. So here, let us have a look at a few such stories.
